Glass Work II
|
Glass Work II, Palais de Tokyo, 2006
Glass Works II is based on the installation Glass Works I exhibited in the Summer of 2005 at Bozar Brussels, and was shown for the first time in Project Rooms Arco, Madrid, Feb. 2006. Material
1.1 Metal rack with shelves: H. 500 cm x D 150 x L. 240 cm. 2. 1000 jars and bottles. 3. A wagon system, which carries a piston, moves up and down and also horizontally, selecting jars to be pushed from the shelves. This action depends on a computer programmed to select the jars at random and time at random. Therefore the event can be made to happen every 10 minutes or just two or three times a day. The act of waiting for something to happen is also part of the sculpture. Exhibited at:
2006: ”Cinq Milliards d’années, Five billion Years”, Palais de Tokyo, Paris
Collection: Moorilla Museum Tasmania

H. 120 x L. 80 x W. 420 cm
Wood, computer devices, 13 motors, mechanics and electronics
Kris Vleeschouwer produced this work for the exhibition
“ Zerbrechliche Schönheit”, in the Kunst Palast, Düsseldorf (19/04 – 31/08/08)
In dialog with paintings of Sebastian Stosskopf (17th century).
13 wineglasses are caressed by metal ‘feathers’ creating screeching sounds occuring at irregular time intervals resulting in a concert of fine grinding noise.
As if to emphasize the vulnerability of life, occasionally a trap door in the table will open and a glass falls through the hole and smashes on the floor.
